Lemoyne Star

It is too hot to manage a big quilt on my lap so I made this Lemoyne Star block to turn into a mug rug  for a friend.  I can quilt this size without too much sweating.

Happy Canada Day!

Bee Mug Rug

Made this for my daughter.  The mug rug looks better than the photo!LOL
I wanted to try paper piecing and am pretty happy with the result.
The project looks much better than the photo suggests.  Paper piecing was fun.
(I straight line quilted the background)

First Quilt

This is the first quilt I did  It is not full sized but rather 36" square.

Just like all quilts...it started with a block and grew.  I am not very good at "just making something for practice";  it always has to turn into something.

Straight Quilting Hint

I read this somewhere yesterday and thought I would try it out.....it works.  Instead of using a fabric marker to mark your lines for straight line hand quilting, use masking tape.  It gives you a perfect line to follow, is repositionable and reusable.

Favourite Block

Since this is a brand new blog, I am pretty sure no one will see it but, if you do, please comment below with your favourite quilt block.
Please join It Starts With A Block...facebook group to post photos of your block.
Thanks

Tiny Creations Bring Me Joy

I love to give gifts - as I assume most of you do.  And handmade ones are the best.
My daughter recently moved out to the country from the city and decided she was going to raise chickens for the eggs (not to eat).  So, with a pandemic on and shopping pretty much non-existent except for on line, I wanted to give her something for Mother's Day which was meaningful.  Hence this little chicken coaster (I purchased the pattern on line from Annie's).
In our city, there was nowhere where I could purchase supplies - and I was not going to run out to shop - so I had to improvise......But I think it turned out kind of cute and she uses it all the time.  I know there are flaws but that is how you learn, isn't it?

Please post any little gifts - or big ones you have quilted or sewn.
See you later.
